A specialised four-year course of study for students who show a particular talent and/or keen interest in Basketball — covering playing, refereeing, coaching and administration.

Program Aim

Develop elite basketball talent

To provide a specialised course of study of four years duration, for students who show a particular talent and/or keen interest in Basketball. The school has traditionally had a strong association with Basketball and has produced a number of outstanding referees and players in recent years.

An increasingly successful Basketball Program has been operating at the school outside the timetable. The number of students participating has grown to the extent that there is a need to cater for the interest of these students.

Program details

→Students who show potential to perform at the top level — playing, refereeing, coaching and administration
→Intense coaching to develop individual and team skills
→Strong association with Basketball — numerous graduates have gone on to represent Western Australia in State teams
→Students encouraged to trial for State teams as part of the WA Country Basketball Program
→Most practical sessions at the Denmark Recreation Centre and School Gymnasium
→Approximately 24 positions for students entering Years 7, 8, 9 & 10
→Successful applicants must play in the Denmark Junior Basketball Association Competition (Monday afternoons)
→Students do NOT miss any core subjects (Maths, Science, English or HaSS) during Basketball Extension times
