About Our Wellbeing Programs
Wellbeing at the heart of learning
At Denmark SHS, we believe that academic achievement and personal wellbeing are deeply connected. Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs are embedded throughout the school to help students develop the skills to understand themselves, manage their emotions, build healthy relationships and make responsible decisions.
Drawing on the Western Australian Department of Education's Student Wellbeing Framework, our programs address five key areas of wellbeing — physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual wellbeing — ensuring our students are supported as whole people, not just learners.

The Four Pillars
Core areas of social-emotional development
Our SEL framework is built around four interconnected pillars that support students to flourish at school and beyond.
Self-Awareness
Understanding our own emotions, strengths, values and ways of thinking. Students develop insight into how they respond to challenges and learn to recognise their own mental health needs.
Social Skills
Building the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with others, resolve conflicts constructively and demonstrate empathy — skills that matter in every context of life.
Emotional Regulation
Developing strategies to manage difficult emotions — stress, anxiety, frustration and disappointment — so students can stay calm, focused and resilient when facing challenges.
Positive Relationships
Nurturing healthy, respectful relationships with peers, teachers and family — understanding boundaries, inclusion, kindness and the importance of safe and supportive connections.
